Welcome! I’m so grateful you’re here.

My name is Dara “Brigid” Major and I’m a North Carolinian, an Orthodox Christian, a wife, and—by God’s great mercy—an expectant mother. I’m currently preparing to welcome my first child, a daughter, due on New Year’s Day.

Before coming to Orthodoxy, I spent 16 years living and working in Los Angeles in the entertainment industry. During that time, I identified as agnostic—spiritually restless, intellectually curious, but uncertain where to turn. Though I had been raised Roman Catholic, I had drifted far from the faith of my childhood.

But God is patient and kind. Through a series of quiet, unexpected moments of grace, my heart was drawn back to Christ—this time, to the fullness of the Orthodox Church. I was received into the Church on Lazarus Saturday in 2022, and everything changed. Life didn’t become easier, but it became anchored. Meaningful. Holy.

About the Blog

This blog is a place where I share the journey of Orthodox life as a woman, a convert, and a mother-to-be. It’s a space where faith, pregnancy, motherhood, and daily life meet—whether that’s in reflections on the Church calendar, preparing a home for a new baby, or learning to live the rhythm of prayer and repentance in ordinary moments.

Here, I hope to create a little corner of encouragement and connection for others—especially women—who are walking similar paths: returning to faith after time away, exploring Orthodoxy, or navigating the beauty and challenges of motherhood in light of the Church’s teachings.
